Pope Paul Mercy Home

LIBRARY

The Library of Pope Paul Mercy Home Teachers Training Centre was to support the academic and professional needs of trainee teachers, educators, and therapists. The initiative for setting up the library originated from the faculty and professionals of the institution, who recognized the importance of access to quality resources in enhancing teaching, learning, and rehabilitation practices.

Starting with a modest collection, the library has steadily expanded over the years. It now houses a rich collection of textbooks, reference materials, journals (both national and international), dissertations, manuals, newsletters, assessment tools, and audio-visual resources. With the introduction of specialized teacher education programs, particularly in Special Education (Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities), the library has developed a strong repository of materials focusing on intellectual disability, autism spectrum disorder, learning disabilities, and inclusive education. To meet the evolving academic and research needs, the library resources are continuously updated, including the addition of e-books and digital learning materials, ensuring that trainees and faculty have access to the latest developments in the field of special education.

The library offers a spacious and airy reading room, internet and reprography facilities. Every new batch of students is given an orientation to the functioning of the library. The library is open from 10.00am to 5.00pm on all working days.
